Best Wishes from Singapore

Easter Monday 25th April 2011
Work for Russ, early breakfast, and early pick up for the workers.
For me - taxi to the Singapore Flyer, this is the local London Eye. Had a fab ride, wasn’t very busy at that time in the morning, so not crowded. I took many pictures and enjoyed myself immensely.

Then walked along the riverbank and eventually got to Raffles Hotel !
I say eventually because I had some difficulty with underpasses – well one in particular.
I had to have three attempts to come up at the correct corner of the (huge) junction. However, I managed it, and found Raffles Hotel. I had a bit of a look about but I did not have a Singapore Sling – for two reasons. First: it was only 11.30am (what !), but also we are supposed to be going there as a group and I didn’t want to spoil it all !

I was pretty hot and tired by now so I took a taxi back to our hotel.
Then I did some reading at the poolside (oh dear but someone has to do it !)
Then I embarked on a silk shopping trip – successful.
When I got back, I decided to take some photos of the hotel while I was waiting to meet Russ on his “break”.

Well I have resorted to giving just a few words for each day - sorry.
Time is running out.
Tomorrow we go to Singapore, and I hope that I will be able to improve the situation then.

Washing and Kew
Oh boy, the joy. Yes washing day again, ha! Got the hang of the washer and dryer no, so no sweat – just time. Well, put stuff in, read for a bit, transfer, read a bit more. Too hard !!
Then off for a walk round Kew, via the library. Took some photos of houses in Charles street, some lovely old style houses, you might say, heritage or historical, or traditional ?
Anyway, a good selection.
Round to see the family of course.
Russ arrived too, home after boys’ bedtime.
This is getting predictable - but good.

Laneways day
Light rain early on but warm.
Off on the tram to look at the Laneways. These developed because the streets of Melbourne were very wide to accommodate bullock carts, and various uses were made of the in-between areas. Nowadays there are lots of different aspects to the lanes, and some are better than others. I had a leaflet from the tourist information, but some of the stuff in it was disinformation !
However I had a good time looking for them and at them. I did not manage them all, as there are many scattered across the city. In fact after a few I stopped looking at the map and started to look around me.
Took a variety of photos, hopefully some will turn out okay.
Back to see the family. Russ too, later.
Then off to meet a friend from Lochwinnoch

in Richmond. Went to eat at Boheme along Bridge Street. Good food, good chat, good company and then a lift home; and so to sleep.

Heavy rain.
Russ back to work, and I had a lovely quiet day. Got up-to-date with the journal and photos, but forgot to take the memory stick to the library with me, so no blog update.
Went round to see the family. Russ arrived at bath time and we stayed for a while chatting.
